Nestled below the picturesque Northern Alps in Nagano lies Azumino, one of Japan’s best-kept secrets. Azumino’s landscape, reminiscent of traditional Japanese countryside, features lush rice fields nourished by abundant water from the majestic mountains. This region boasts an alluvial fan formed by rivers originating from the Northern Alps, producing Japan's softest and purest natural spring water.
Every day, about 700,000 tons of this pristine water flow through the fields, supporting rice cultivation and wasabi farming since the Taisho era. The water, after being used in wasabi fields, is recycled into rainbow trout farming ponds, enriching the local industry and contributing to a sustainable agricultural cycle.
In 1985, the Ministry of the Environment recognized the "Azumino Wasabi Field Springs" as one of the "100 Exquisite Waters of the Showa Era." Today, Azumino remains renowned for its exceptional water quality throughout Japan, attracting visitors and connoisseurs who seek the purest natural spring water. This recognition underscores the enduring legacy and importance of Azumino’s water, making it a symbol of natural beauty and purity.

Azumino, in the Heart of Nagano
Made Pure in the Japanese Northern Alps
Renowned for its majestic granite mountains, the Northern Alps are the source of some of Japan's purest and most revered water. Granite, primarily made of quartz, naturally filters snowmelt and rainwater, resulting in incredibly soft and pure water, low in iron, manganese, and calcium.
The story of our water begins in the lush forests of the Japanese Northern Alps, where fallen leaves and grass infuse the water with natural minerals. Over 20 years, this water is meticulously filtered through the earth’s strata, achieving a perfect mineral balance. It collects in underground aquifers, untouched by pollutants.
In Azumino, our facility taps into these pristine aquifers, drawing exceptional natural spring water. By maintaining rigorous quality standards and respecting the environment, we ensure every drop retains its pure, refreshing qualities. Our commitment to sustainability preserves this precious resource for future generations.
From the Northern Alps to your home, our water is a testament to nature’s beauty and purity. This decades-long process highlights the exceptional quality of Azumino's spring water, a cherished part of Japanese heritage and a symbol of natural perfection.
